Objectives of the Teacher Education Program

  • The adult learner will be able to demonstrate knowledge of Montessori philosophy, theory, and methodology.

  • The adult learner will become part of a “team’ in a school and will learn how to work with co-workers and with administration of the school.

  • The adult learner will demonstrate love for children and for the Montessori method.

  • The adult learner will be able to demonstrate theoretical knowledge of pertinent research findings in the field of child development and early childhood education.

  • The adult learner will have the insights and skills needed to work with the individual needs of children and plan for the continuity of learning experiences for children age 2 ½ through 6. 

  • The adult learner will meet MACTE competencies related to:

 - Montessori Philosophy and Human   Development

 - Classroom Leadership

 - Curriculum Implementation

 - Community Involvement and      Partnership with Families

  • The adult learner will be able to demonstrate practical ability in implementing the Montessori philosophy and methods.

  • The adult learner will be able to implement human development and early education concepts to other staff, parents, and the community.
